GETTING READY TOGETHER

Introducing a new trend - GETTING READY *TOGETHER*

Ever since I first started in the wedding industry, I’ve always wondered why people/couples don’t get ready together. It’s the only day of your life that you are told you *can’t* see your partner, yet it happens to be the one where you share a union together! Why? Because an old tradition says so?? Looking back at the old tradition, a wedding/marriage was a *business transaction* between families or countries playing politics! It was a situation where the two people getting married didn’t actually know each other - so keeping the couple separated until they’re literally at the altar was a strategy. It kept the two people from backing out if they didn’t like or weren’t attracted to each other.

Not great, right? So think about what a marriage and union means to you as a modern day person! To us, it’s a partnership between people who want to be there and support each other in life. You are each other’s *person* and your wedding is a celebration of that! The *whole* day! So let’s start ditching these old patriarchal traditions, or at the very least be aware of them. Our two cents? Just fucking get ready together already!!

OUR FAVE BENEFITS FOR GETTING READY TOGETHER:

  • Lowers stress + anxiety

  • Creates more intimacy in your day

  • Allows photographers to get more organic details + special moments between you

  • Takes the pressure off you to be *on* in front of friends/family (oh hi, introverts!)

  • Provides a loving + supportive space for any body image concerns you have

  • Simplifies logistics + the amount of time you have to spend running around

  • Makes for a really fun time with your person (or people)

We LOVE encouraging our couples to get ready together especially when they have higher anxiety or other separation anxiety from their partners. We’ve even had some couples who didn’t do it, but after the wedding told us they wished they had! That’s not to say that we aren’t on board if you still want to get ready separately - you do you!

But just in case you need a little more convincing, here are some gorgeous moments from some of our couples who got ready together:
