Katie and Stephen were legit the most casual couple when it came to planning their wedding. It seemed to come pretty easy for this NYC couple to settle on their vendors and to create this super cool party. The Masonic Temple in Asheville, NC is a really unique venue that features 100 year old back drops, several event spaces to accommodate different vibes and uses, and a really great flow for guests to keep them on their toes. This space was totally obvious for Stephen and Katie since they both have a huge love for the theatre and the dramatics - Also they love conspiracy theories / secret societies which was woven into their theme for the night starting with the ceremony!
MY FAVORITE DETAIL: They had their officiant begin the ceremony with a Secret Society pledge for all of the guests to participate in. The pledge was a vow to the couple and to help hold each other accountable for this relationship from this day forward. I loved the participation and that they wanted to "break the 4th wall" at their own wedding. (They also did a curtain call at the end of the ceremony! Ha!)
2ND FAVORITE DETAIL: Since they have a flare for the dramatic and for theatre, we asked Masonic Temple to help do a backdrop change from Ceremony to the Dancing part of the reception. They got married with a wooded scene that is reminiscent of a production of Twelfth Night and they partied to a sunset backdrop of a temple.
I couldn't have wished a better day for these two and I'm thrilled that they decided to move to North Carolina from NYC since they got married here in February! (Still wish they chose to come to Ashevllle though!)
